  Charris Ben Ford

Charris is the founder of Grassolean Solutions LLC, an organization devoted to providing people with sustainable energy information and products. He has been working for many years to raise awareness about alternative fuels and has lived in solar powered homes for the last 12 years. Charris has been operating his own 100% bio-diesel powered truck for the past three years and is one of the original members the Grassolean biodiesel making cooperative near Telluride Colorado. Charris was the subject of the much-celebrated film about biodiesel called "French Fries to Go". He has played a significant role in implementing the use of Biodiesel in Telluride's public bus system. His personal dream is to start a chain of solar powered "Grassolean Stations" around the country, that provide alternative fuel and healthy food to the nations growing population of forward thinking individuals.

The son of an award winning, Madison Avenue, advertising man and a visionary mother who started one of the first holistic health centers in the United States, Charris is passionate about the power of media as a tool for important social and environmental change.

Beginning in 1988, Charris ran a small organic farm in Tennessee, where he, along with friends and family, grew and foraged a great deal of their own food. Living completely off the grid (using rain water collection and solar power), he worked closely with local Amish and the "back to the land" community. Charris was a "Homesteader" for ten years, and in that time gathered the many skills that living off the land requires. Working his team of Belgian horses, chopping firewood, hauling water from the spring and filling the root cellar with jars of homegrown goods were all part of his life on the farm. In addition, Charris is a stonemason, a carpenter, an amateur mycologist and an "eco~rapper". He and his wife Dulcie moved to Colorado in 1998, where they now live on and manage a large ranch near Telluride, Colorado.
